4 Ingredient Popcorn Balls

October 6, 2016 by Amber 8 Comments

4 Ingredient Popcorn Balls are a great Halloween treat made with popcorn, marshmallows, butter and candies.

It is finally beginning to feel like fall and those Halloween decorations just went up. Yay! Little happy nerd dance over here. I am a summer person but there IS something about fall time that is so perfect. The cozy sweaters, pumpkin patches, drinking HOT coffee again and the holidays. Halloween happens to be one of my favorite holidays. I am just in love with great costumes, crazy fun food and having an excuse to cozy up by the fire pit in the middle of my driveway for one night while passing out candy to little goblins. Halloween is just plain fun!

4 Ingredient Popcorn Balls

4 Ingredient Popcorn Balls are pretty simple to make and the process is much like that of a rice krispies treat. You have lots of buttery, marshmallow goodness in each bite with a little hint of salt and a crunchy surprise with the candies added.

5 Tips & Tricks

  1. Melt the butter and marshmallow on a low-medium heat and stir frequently with a little patience. Take the time to slowly melt the ingredients together and avoid cooking on too high of heat which could burn the mixture.
  2. You can use any type of candies you like. I picked some Halloween M&M’s and candy corns today. If using chocolate, make sure the marshmallow mixture added in with the popcorn is cooled enough that it won’t melt the chocolate before stirring it in.
  3. Try rubbing some non-stick spray on your hands before forming the popcorn balls so the marshmallow doesn’t stick to you. If you have issues with the balls not sticking together, let the mixture cool a little longer and then try again.
  4. The best technique for forming the popcorn balls is gently pressing the ingredients together with the palm of your hand. Don’t be too aggressive.
  5. Place the popcorn balls on parchment paper to cool completely and set up before eating. Avoid stacking them on top of each other before set.

Description

4 Ingredient Popcorn Balls are a great Halloween treat made with popcorn, marshmallows, butter and candies.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 ounces marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3.2 ounce bag popcorn, (light butter and salt)
  • 1 cup candy, (we used the M&M and candy corns)

Instructions

  1. Cook the bag of popcorn according to directions and place into a large mixing bowl. Remove all un-popped kernels after it is cooled. Set to the side.
  2. In a pan on medium to low heat, melt the butter.
  3. Add 10 ounces of marshmallows and stir frequently for approximately 3-5 minutes until creamy and no chunks of marshmallow are left.
  4. Turn off heat and pour over popcorn. Stir quickly.
  5. Let cool for a few minute and then stir in candies. If using chocolate, make sure the mixture is cool enough to not melt the chocolate.
  6. Gently press all ingredients together until you form a ball that fits into the palm of your hand.
  7. Cool on parchment paper.
  8. Enjoy!
