Creamed Corn

November 19, 2019 by Amber 11 Comments

Creamed Corn is a tasty, classic side dish made with corn, heavy cream, butter, sugar, a pinch of cayenne, milk and cheese.

We are just about one week away from Thanksgiving! Crazy. I haven’t even had to think about the menu. I do know that every holiday dinner calls for a few fantastic vegetable side dishes. Creamed Corn is a favorite and one of those dishes that tends to please just about everyone so it will be making its way onto the menu for sure.

Creamed Corn

Creamed Corn is creamy with a touch of sweetness and just a little kick of heat from the cayenne. If you don’t want the extra spice, you can certainly just leave that ingredient out of the recipe. I have never been a fan of canned creamed corn but homemade is a different story. You can still taste the corn and get that slight crunch it provides.

Tips & Tricks

Can You Use Fresh  Corn?

Yes! Frozen corn is the easiest but you can use fresh. For fresh corn, you will need about 5 cups worth of corn. Remove the husk from the cob and cut off the kernels. Add a couple tablespoons of water to the pan with the corn to heat up and follow the instructions below.

I love creamed corn, but I have only ever had the canned variety. I am definitely going to give this recipe a try, so I can experience homemade creamed corn. Can’t wait to try it.
