Eggless Chocolate Mousse is a decadent, creamy dessert made with only 4 ingredients of heavy cream, bitter-sweet chocolate, almond extract and confectioners sugar.
I made those delicious Mini Vanilla Cupcakes last week and I wanted to create one more treat to share before Valentine’s Day rolled around… which is just a couple days away! This dessert would also be perfect for Mother’s Day or just something something for a weekend. Let’s be honest, a little chocolatey bite is just necessary every once in awhile and this mousse will definitely take care of those chocolate cravings!
Eggless Chocolate Mousse
Eggless Chocolate Mousse is really creamy with a strong chocolate flavor. If you have never made a mousse before, it is very similar to pudding but a little bit lighter in texture and much richer. Typically, mousse is made with egg whites but this version has no egg and is really simple.
Tips & Tricks
Stiff Peak
The instructions tell you to beat heavy whipping cream to a stiff peak. What does this mean? You will use a hand or stand mixer to beat the cream for 6+ minutes until the liquid thickens up. The cream is done when you are able to lift the beaters out of the cream and it stands straight up without curling or falling over.
Chocolate
The higher quality of chocolate, the better flavor mousse will have. With that said, you can pick anything from a dark chocolate bar to semi-sweet chocolate chips. The taste will change depending on chocolate being used. I prefer a bitter-sweet chocolate bar with around 60% cocoa. It melts well and has a smooth finish.
