Loaded Shock Top
The Loaded Shock Top is a simple, yet refreshing beverage with Shock Top, Grand Marnier and a splash of juice. This drink is perfect for those hot summer nights to sip while sitting on the deck enjoying your spouses company or maybe with a few friends.
We took a family vacation down to Orlando for the whole Disney experience. Our hotel just happened to have an Irish Pub underneath with some really delicious shepherd’s pie and great drinks. After a day at Disney World, a drink is necessary. For real! The whole Disney fiasco story I will save for another day. A bartender at the restaurant introduced to what he calls, a Loaded Shock Top. Of course, I had to share the drink with all of you!
If you love shepherd’s pie as much as I do, check out our recipe for Cottage Pie.
Bottle of Shock Top plus Grand Marnier plus a splash of juice. Add in an orange slice and done. Love when the good things in life are also so simple. You can use orange juice or cranberry juice. Whichever you prefer. Also, I did not put an amount of juice into the directions. I think it is really dependent on your preference and how strong you like your drinks.
If you haven’t had a Shock Top before, it is a Belgian style wheat ale with hints of orange, lemon and lime with a little kick of coriander spice. This beer is a medium body brew that is really smooth and refreshing. If you are a Blue Moon fan, this is probably a beer you will enjoy. Shock Top comes in different varieties and I recommend the Belgian White for this Loaded Shock Top. The shot of Grand Marnier brings in a bitter orange flavor and it all balances out with a splash of juice. I prefer cranberry juice while my husband likes it with orange juice. I think the cranberry is nice though because it breaks up all the orange flavoring in the drink with the added sweetness and touch of sour.
