Mason Jar Iced Matcha Latte

March 9, 2021 by Amber 10 Comments

The Mason Jar Iced Matcha Latte is made with almond milk, honey, vanilla syrup, Matcha green tea powder, a bit of water and ice shaken in a mason jar for a really delicious morning pick me up.

What Is Matcha

Matcha seems to be in all the coffeehouses these days but what the heck is it? Matcha is processed from green tea leaves to make this beautiful vibrant green powder. The great thing about Matcha is that is provides the benefits you get from regular green tea but even more antioxidants and also more caffeine. The caffeine level is pretty equivalent to that of a cup of coffee hence the “latte” in the name. So if you are a coffee drinker that wants to switch it up or if you hate coffee but need a boost of energy, you may love this drink.

Why Choose Matcha:

  1. Energy without the crash. Matcha provides a boost of lasting energy without the crash for better concentration and alertness.
  2. Full of antioxidants. These antioxidants help counteract the harmful effects of free radicals in the body to prevent chronic diseases and illnesses.
  3. May help burn more calories by boosting metabolism.
  4. L-theanine has relaxation properties to reduce stress without making you sleepy.
  5.  Antibacterial properties to neutralize bacteria in the mouth for better oral health.

You may enjoy this recipe for a hot Matcha Tea Latte!

Mason Jar Iced Matcha Latte

Mason Jar Iced Matcha Latte has a nice creamy green tea flavor that is balanced perfectly with the sweetness of a little honey. I always use almond milk for this drink and a bit of vanilla syrup to give extra flavor and just make this a drink that is just really enjoyable to consume. I would easily spend 5 bucks at a coffeehouse for this drink- it is that good but so much more affordable and convenient making it at home!

Tip

You can switch up the flavoring a little with just swapping syrup. Go for something a little nutty with a hazelnut syrup or go fruity with a raspberry syrup!

What You Need

  • Mason jar with lid
  • Almond milk
  • Honey
  • Vanilla syrup
  • Ice
  • Hot water
  • Matcha powder (I use the culinary grade but a premium grade is typically recommended for drinks)

Process

The process of creating a Mason Jar Iced Matcha Latte is super simple!

  1. Add some Matcha powder into a 12 ounce mason jar.
  2. Add in a little hot water. I just use super hot tap water.
  3. Close lid on mason jar and shake well.
  4. Open lid and pour in some vanilla syrup, honey and almond milk.
  5. Close lid and shake again. Shake until the Matcha powder is broken up, dissolved and completely blended into drink.
  6. Open lid, fill with ice.
  7. Add whipped cream for an optional bonus.
  8. Enjoy!
