Mocha Banana Smoothie is a breakfast drink made with bananas, espresso, almond milk, oats, honey and cocoa.
My two favorite things in the morning happen to be smoothies and coffee. Typically not together but why the heck not? This Mocha Banana Smoothie supplies a little fruit and great cool off after an early morning workout and gives you that boost of energy to get your day going.

Mocha Banana Smoothie
Mocha Banana Smoothie tastes like a chocolaty frappe with a hint of banana. Goes down easy while putting down those chocolate cravings (if that’s possible). I also find when I create drinks like this, I don’t have the desire to go spend money at a coffeehouse for some fancy sugary drink which in turn saves me calories and money.
What’s Inside
Banana
Bananas are healthy, sweet and help thicken drinks making them the perfect addition to smoothies.
Instant Coffee
Instant coffee is fantastic for recipes like this! Just add a serving of instant coffee to a little warm water to create a shot of espresso. Depending on how much of a pick me up you need for the day, you can add a little more or a little less.
Honey
This coffee isn’t sweetened with sugar. Instead, use honey for a smarter sweetening ingredient. Maple syrup is another sweetening option.
Oats
Old fashioned oats are added for vitamins, minerals and fiber. Plus, they also help thicken this smoothie.
Cocoa Powder
MUST HAVE CHOCOLATE. The cocoa powder adds the chocolatey deliciousness mixing with the instant coffee to make the mocha flavor found in this smoothie.
Almond Milk
Any milk may be used this recipe. I prefer almond milk.
Tip
Instead of cocoa powder, try this recipe with one scoop of your favorite chocolate protein powder!
