Taco Chili

October 23, 2020 by Amber 8 Comments

Taco Chili is made with lean ground beef, beans, onion, bell pepper, tomato sauce, salsa and taco seasoning in just under 30 minutes for a comforting family meal.

My month of affordable, simple and delicious meals you can make from Aldi ingredients is still going and  this Taco Chili could not be left out! Life just gets hectic during this time of year with all the school activities, Halloween parties, preparing for Thanksgiving and Christmas… crazy easy but still comforting recipes are needed and this one gets put on repeat often in my household.

Taco Chili or Taco Soup?

Taco Chili is also known as Taco Soup. I prefer calling it a chili because it is thick and hearty just like a great chili. If you wanted this more “soup like”, feel free to add some broth when cooking to thin it out. Whatever you decide to call it or if you want to add broth or keep it as instructed below, I think you will enjoy this meal. The flavor, the coziness of a warm bite and the simplicity of ingredients and cooking method makes it a meal you will certainly put into the dinner lineup often.

Toppings

One of my favorite parts of eating chili is probably the delicious toppings. Avocado is one of my favorite toppings because it is healthy, fresh and cools off a hot bite. Cilantro, shredded cheese, sour cream, hot sauce or salsa are also great options to make this dish complete. If you like to add texture to chili , try some homemade Corn Tortilla Strips for the perfect crunch and added saltiness.

Try it in the Crockpot

Want to toss Taco Chili in the crockpot so you can come home a hot meal after work? Just brown the meat on the stovetop and then toss in that slow cooker with the seasoning, salsa, beans, tomato sauce, chopped onion and chopped bell pepper. Cook on low all 8 hours and enjoy the toppings of choice.
