Fried Pickle Burger

Fried Pickle Burger

Yields: 6 burgers

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Make your burger patties to begin. In a large mixing bowl, add sirloin and the rest of the burger patty ingredients together.
  2. Form into 6 large patties and place on a lined cookie sheet. You can even spread it out to make 8 patties because these are large.
  3. Let burger patties chill in fridge while your prepare everything else.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together all the burger sauce ingredients and place in fridge.
  5. On the stove top, add about 1 inch of oil to a large pan. You can use oil of choice. I have used vegetable and peanut oil and both work well. You will need a thermometer to make sure the oil is at 375 degrees.
  6. Drain the pickle slices. Pat dry.
  7. Grab 2 bowls. Add the buttermilk in bowl #1. Add cornmeal, cayenne, pepper and flour in bowl #2.
  8. Each pickle needs to be dipped in bowl #1 and then coated in bowl #2. Set coated pickles on a large plate. Repeat process until all the pickles are coated.
  9. In small batches, add the coated pickles to the pan with oil at 375 degrees. Cook around 2 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oil and place on paper towels. Repeat until pickles are all fried.
  10. Preheat the grill on a high heat, around 550 degrees. Trust me with the high heat. It will keep the burgers moist. Flip every 5 minutes for a total cook time of 20 minutes.
  11. Assemble your burgers. Add lettuce, a burger patty, cheese, burger sauce and fried pickles.
  12. Enjoy!
