Here are my Top 5 Social Media Apps Bloggers Must Have. These are the apps that are bringing me lots of views for an infant blog, reaching up to 2,500 page views daily. I recommend the addthis plugin for social media sharing. This plugin has tons of options for your followers on sharing capabilities and will help you reach people on a lot of different social media platforms. Here we go!
I came across FlipBoard from seeing a massive amount of referrals coming from the source so I had to check it out. Obviously. One of my followers added a recipe of mine to their FlipBoard and got me views. Lots and lots of views. So, I had to start an account myself. This is a really simple app to navigate. You create Magazines to showcase your blog posts. Once a new post is created, I simply add it to my Simply Made Recipe Magazine. I get more interest every day from FlipBoard and my traffic continues to grow.

StumbleUpon is probably my least favorite app to use. I find it hard to navigate and difficult to find people I would like to follow. However, the traffic coming in from StumbleUpon makes this a must have for all bloggers. Once you have created an account, you can stumble your blog posts. You can only stumble your post once. So, you have to get other people to also stumble the post to gain some momentum. This is where fellow bloggers can help you out. I have also heard that StumbleUpon will think you are spam if you only stumble your own posts so you have to get out there and work with other bloggers on this one. Also, I have noticed that some posts get thousands of views from this app and some literally get zero. It is hit and miss but worth the time and effort. The bounce rate for this app is also high, meaning viewers aren’t sticking around to browse your page, but I figure that even if I just get a few really interested then it is okay. You never know where your next biggest fan will come from! Plus, more page views means more opportunities.
I am on Facebook constantly. Simply Made Recipes has a Facebook page with thousands of views weekly. You have to interact with people and get them to visit your Facebook page to like your posts and hopefully also visit your site. Post on a consistent schedule but don’t overwhelm your Facebook followers either. I try to post once, maybe twice daily with one of my recipes or a recipe of a fellow blogger. Also, Facebook is where a lot of engagement comes from with fellow bloggers. So join those Facebook blogging groups and start interacting.

I am a huge Pinterest fan. It is my favorite app and I am getting an increasing amount of referrals from it. I go on Pinterest multiple times a day to pin my own content and that of fellow bloggers. I have heard some fellow blogger state that 90% of repins should be your own content. Personally, I am doing around 40% repins being my own and the other 60% being others pins I find that I like. This seems to be working well so far. Also, my biggest following so far is from Pinterest with almost 1,000. Make sure your pins are high quality images and long. I use Canva to edit my photos and create pinable images. I typically make my pinable images 735×1600. Get out there and pin!

Twitter is not my favorite social media app but my numbers are growing with it. It is easy to use and does not suck a lot of time from your busy schedule. I try to tweet a minimal of 10 times daily. Half my own content and half other peoples content. I look forward to gaining more followers on twitter and seeing where this app takes me.

So, I know Yummly makes this 6 social media apps bloggers must have. Did not include it in the top 5 because it is a food related app and not really a “social” app. If you have a food blog and are not using Yummly, you are making a huge mistake. I am seeing massive growth with Yummly and it is easy to navigate. You add your recipe to Yummly and let it go. There are plenty of Facebook groups for Yummly support so I recommend joining at least one to help you get maximum reach. You may not get referrals overnight with this app but they will come and it has been the most consistent daily referral traffic I receive, plus it is increasing daily.
My goal for my second month blogging was 10,000 page views and I have blown past that. My infant blog is getting 6,000 plus weekly views! My goals for the next 2 months are to monetize better and hopefully land a couple Social Fabric gigs. I will keep you all posted on my progress. I hope these social media apps help you succeed in your blogging journey. What are the apps that are on the top of your referral list bringing you big traffic numbers?
